Atlas and host-city draw
Where the people listed in a program come from, by the institution they gave, with the host city marked. Then, for every convention, how much of the program came from near the city that hosted it.
Each dot is an institution, sized by its listings that year. The map shows institutions in the contiguous US with IPEDS coordinates: 2,613 of the 2,899 listings in 2015. Alaska, Hawaii, territories, institutions outside the US, and affiliations with no match are not on the map. Distances are straight lines from the host city to each institution.
